Where your time goes
Hours are per person, per week. 6 of 15 tasks selected.
The assumptions behind the numbers.
manual hours / week = team size × selected hours per person
annual time value = manual hours × hourly cost × 52
recoverable hours / week = manual hours × recovery %
recoverable value / year = recoverable hours × hourly cost × 52
- 52 working weeks
- Annual figures multiply weekly hours by 52. Leave, public holidays and quiet periods are not deducted, so real annual totals will be lower.
- Everyone does every task
- Hours are entered per person and multiplied by team size. If only some people do a task, lower its hours to a team average.
- No double counting
- Tasks are meant to be distinct. If replying to customers also counts as email for your team, include it once. Totals over 40 hrs per person are not calculated.
- Illustrative starting points
- Suggested task hours and the 35% recovery figure are editable assumptions for exploration. They are not verified industry averages or a forecast for your business.
- Time value, not cash
- Values use your hourly cost. Recovered time is usually redirected to other work rather than removed from payroll.
- Costs not included
- Implementation, software licences, training time and ongoing maintenance are excluded. A real business case should net these off.
